To eliminate the long and tedious hours of sitting associated with the painting of a portrait, Mary Elizabeth has developed a three step schedule to assure a successful portrait.

PLANNING: Mary Elizabeth meets with the client to discuss the function of the portrait as well as size, pose, details of background and clothing. Time needed: Approx 60 minutes
SITTING: To create a painting that captures the client's character a setting is chosen that reflects the personality of the subject. Within this setting a minimum of 72 slides are taken. It is during this step that pose, lighting, etc are experimented with. Time needed: Approx 90 minutes
COMPOSITION SELECTION: During this step the artist and subject meet to view and discuss the slides taken at the previous session. With input from the client, Mary Elizabeth forms a composite from which the portrait is then executed. Time needed: Approx 60 minutes

For situations in which the subject cannot take part in the above process (such as a posthumous remembrance or surprise gift), a commissioned portrait is possible only if good quality photos are available. Remember, a portrait is not only an artistic rendering of a subject, but is, when executed at the hand of a professional artist of the caliber of Mary Elizabeth Patton, an heirloom  which will be cherished by your family for generations.

The price schedule for commissioned portraits is as follows:
